Department of Geology

Highlights Of the Program

Eligibility for joining M.Sc. Tech (Applied Geology) courses: Student must be Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with Geology as one of the subjects.

  • Well-equipped laboratories and research infrastructure for teaching and advanced geological studies and interactive smart boards in every classroom.
  • The department has experienced faculty members and active researchers with the publications in national and international journals.
  •  The department contributes significantly to geological research including mineral resources, stratigraphy, environmental studies, Remote Sensing and GIS, Economic Geology, Quaternary and Limnogeology, Paleoclimates, Applied Industrial and Environmental Micropaleontology, Heavy metal pollution and health risk assessment, Petrology (Igneous, Metamorphic, Sedimentary), Hydrogeology and Watershed Management, Solid Waste Management etc.
  • Well-equipped laboratories such as Hydrogeology/Hydro-chemistry, Ore Geology, Applied Industrial and Environmental Micropaleontology, Advanced Thin/Polished Section, etc.
  • The department imparts geological field training with the emphasis on mapping in Igneous, Metamorphic, Sedimentary Terrains along with trainings on the data presentation and Geological Report Writing.
  •  The Applied Geology students exclusively undergo Mine/Industrial training and learn specialized subjects such as Mineral Exploration, Mining Geology and Valuation of Mineral Properties, Elements of Mining and Drilling Techniques which helps them in getting placements in Mining, exploration firms and other related industrial sectors.
